Privacy Policy

A legal disclaimer

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Single Standard ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Single Standard mobile application (the "App"), a movement screening and corrective exercise platform used by fire departments, their personnel, and authorized medical and administrative staff. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we protect it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the App, you agree to this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your information with data brokers. We do not use your information for advertising or advertising measurement, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

1. Who We Are and How to Reach Us

Single Standard

Email: drerinmcmullin@singlestandardutah.com

If you have questions about this policy, want a copy of your data, or want your account deleted, contact us at the address above and we will respond promptly.

2. Information We Collect

Account and Contact Information

When an account is created for you, we collect your first and last name and email address. Access to the App is by invitation from your department or program administrator, and each account is tied to a single email address. We also assign an internal user ID to your account so your records can be associated with you inside the App.

Health and Fitness Information

This is the core of what the App does. Depending on how you use it, we collect:

  • Movement screening results, including scored assessments performed by or with a clinician

  • Assigned corrective exercises and your completion of them, including repetitions, sets, hold durations, and whether a movement met the required standard

  • Session history, dates, and progress over time

  • Injury and time-loss information entered by an authorized administrator (for example, days missed in a quarter)

  • Any notes or observations recorded by an authorized clinician or administrator about your screening or program

Camera and On-Device Movement Tracking

The App uses your device camera to guide and validate exercises in real time using augmented reality body-position tracking. Camera frames are processed for the purpose of tracking your movement and are not retained as photos or videos of you. What we store is the resulting exercise data (for example, that a hold reached the required duration), not footage of you performing it. The App requests camera permission before any of this happens, and you can revoke it at any time in your device settings, though the exercise validation features will not work without it.

Diagnostic Information

We collect crash and basic performance information so we can find and fix problems in the App. This is technical and is not used to build a profile of you.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, browsing history, payment information, or advertising identifiers. The App contains no advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information only to:

  1. Create and secure your account and authenticate you

  2. Deliver the App's core functionality: screening, assigned exercises, guidance, and progress tracking

  3. Make your results available to the specific people authorized to see them (see Section 4)

  4. Provide customer and technical support when you ask for it

  5. Diagnose crashes and improve the App's reliability and performance

  6. Conduct research, but only as described in Section 5

We do not use your information for third-party advertising, our own advertising, or marketing purposes.

4. Who Can See Your Information

Access inside the App is role-based and limited to what each role legitimately needs:

Role

What they can see

You (participant)

Your own profile, assigned exercises, and progress

Clinicians and authorized medical staff

Screening results and program data for the individuals they are responsible for

Fire chiefs and department administrators

Program participation and department-level information for their own personnel, scoped to what their role requires

Medical students in training

Practice and training profiles only. Training accounts are scoped so that real participant health data is not used for practice.

Single Standard staff

Only as needed to operate, support, and secure the App

Service Providers

We use third-party infrastructure providers to host our application and database. These providers process data on our behalf under contract, including a Business Associate Agreement where protected health information is involved, and they are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

Legal Disclosures

We may disclose information if required by law, valid legal process, or where necessary to protect the safety, rights, or property of any person.

What We Never Do

We do not sell your information. We do not disclose it to data brokers. We do not link it with third-party data for advertising purposes.

5. Research Use and Consent

Single Standard conducts and supports research on musculoskeletal injury prevention in the fire service.

Your medical, screening, and performance data will only be used in research if you have given written, informed consent for that use. If you have not provided written consent, your data is excluded from research datasets. Consent is separate from your use of the App: you can use the App, receive screenings, and complete your assigned exercises without agreeing to any research use.

You may withdraw your research consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal stops any further research use of your data going forward, though it may not be possible to remove your data from analyses that have already been completed or published.

Where research is conducted under the oversight of an institutional review board or ethics review board, that study's informed consent documents govern how your data is used for that study, alongside this policy.

Research data is never used for tracking or advertising purposes.

6. How We Protect Your Information

  • Medical and health information is encrypted in transit and at rest. It is readable in plain form only by the licensed medical professional who records it and by other clinicians authorized to review your care.

  • Health data is stored behind a HIPAA-compliant firewall in a HIPAA-compliant database environment, hosted with providers under a signed Business Associate Agreement

  • Access is restricted by role, and administrative access is limited to personnel who need it to operate the service

  • Authentication requires an invitation, plus an email address and password unique to your account

  • Access to health records is logged

No system is perfectly secure, but we treat health information as the most sensitive data we hold and protect it accordingly. If a breach affecting your information occurs, we will notify you and any required authorities as the law requires.

7. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain your account and health information for as long as your account is active and for as long as needed to serve the clinical and program purposes described above, or as required by applicable law and professional record-keeping obligations.

You may request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account and associated data by emailing drerinmcmullin@singlestandardutah.com. We will act on deletion requests except where we are legally required to retain certain records, and we will tell you if that is the case.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a portable copy of your personal information, to withdraw consent, and to object to certain processing. Exercise any of these rights by contacting us at the email above. We will not retaliate or restrict your access to care or to the App for exercising them.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is intended for adult fire service personnel and authorized adult medical and administrative users. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have, we will delete it.

10. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the date at the top and notify users in the App or by email. Continued use of the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
